Biography. The Image started as a 5 man Jackson 5 style singing group, and 8 piece showband in 1970. After some swift personnel changes, and some guidance from Steve Shockley they rose up among the cream of the Dayton music set, opening out of town venues for the Delfonics, Ohio player’s, and David Ruffin. They auditioned for Motown in the Gordy mansion, and were offered a shot at becoming Rufin’s back-up group, after he left the Temps. After a few more personnel changes, they ended up as a quartet lounge act. The only recording they ever did featured a female lead vocalist – Cathy Graves.
