Lakeside Park

Lakeside Park
Amusement Park in Dayton, through the 1960’s. It was a full blown permanent carnival, located within the local community. It was within walking distance for an enterprising youngster. There was a Kiddie Land area, complete with silly mirrors, and bumper cars. There were 2 roller coasters, a modern, but tame one called the “Wild Mouse” and the old wooden framed one called the “Wild Cat”. According to legend, one or two people fell from the WIld Cat, over the years. There was something called the Bullet, and a mild rollercoaster with a convertible top. It was kind of a tunnel of love, but I believe that it was also called the “Caterpillar” In the evenings there was a large Bingo Hall over-looking the entire park. The park eventually closed as LeSourdsville Lake, and Kings Island became popular. Black entrepreneur, George Tuck took over the grounds, and created the Lakeview Palladium.
