BIO. Dear Sir – A few other points about The Imperials that I think is worth noting is that back in the late 60s’ and early 70s’ the group was booked practically every weekend playing at Wamplers, the Democratic Club, Lakeside and other functions around town. The band was constantly booked on the college scene at Central State, Ohio University, Miami, Ball State, Ohio State, Wittenburg and quite a few dawn dances at Wilberforce University. When all of the members were still in high school or just in the early part of college the band was back up for both the Temptations and Spinners in Muncie, Indiana. Back then singing groups only traveled with a lead guitar, bass and drummer. Local groups would provide the remaining portion of the band for the gig. The group was also the opening act for Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions on at least two gigs in Columbus and Cincinnati, Ohio. For such young guys at the time, the band was really tight and was a monthly regular for local fraternities, sororities and various club dances in Indianapolis, Toledo and northern Kentucky. If you remember Union Hall after the local football games, then you probably heard The Imperials play a time or two. After the band broke up, Shawn Sandridge went on to play with both Sun and Dayton and is on several albums.
