Hoover Skating Rink – The Mayo Family
The Dayton Music Guide is dedicated to the generation of great memories from the “Good.Old.Days”. We would be remiss in our duty, if we don’t mention Skating. This was one of our favorite pastimes besides a good Talent Show, and it was all about music, Like “Twine Time” or Marvin Gaye’s “Grapevine” and some serious dancing on wheels. Sometimes the Chains of Rap Brown or the Glory Stompers would shut it down, but unless you were one of the unlucky ones that caught a skate upside the head, a good fight after the Skating Party just added to the memory. This was the main skating venue during the early 1970’s.
